Trent-Moira Co-op Estates Inc. is the first continuing housing co-op in the Quinte area. We provide affordable, quality apartments and homes for our resident members. We have a long history as a successful not-for-profit organization.
Trent-Moira Co-op's mission is to provide affordable, not-for-profit housing and any related services, on a co-operative basis. New co-op communities, housing persons of varied backgrounds and incomes, will be developed over time in the urban areas of Hastings and Prince Edward County.
Our goal is to continue to provide not only affordable housing, as reflected by our mission statement above, but safe and respectable housing for people who wish to enhance their standard of living but who, due to financial or emotional considerations, are unable to do so in the for-profit housing market.
Co-operative housing offers the ideal solution in that, since it is member driven and operated, the administrative and maintenance costs are kept to a minimum, and the residents gain a sense of pride in ensuring the attractiveness of their homes through their active participation in controlling their living environment.

There are seven members and four officers currently on the board.
Nominations are brought before a general meeting of all residents of the co-operative. Nominees are then elected by secret ballot by the members present at the general meeting.
Two of the original directors, Archie Huber and Peggy Wood, have been re-elected to the board since its formation in 1987.
Our board of directors is made up of representatives from many walks of life, including several retired persons.
The following persons are Officers of the Co-operative: Laurel Ash (President); Archie Huber (Vice-President); Gail Stark (Treasurer); Peggy Wood (Secretary)
Our Vice-President, Archie Huber, has been involved in co-op housing for over six years. He has served on the Board of Directors of a housing co-op in Kamloops, B.C. and was an original incorporator and Director of Trent-Moira Co-op. Archie is now retired and volunteers his time with the local Senior Citizens Association. Other directors have been involved in hospital volunteer work; amateur theatre; community newsletters; bulk purchasing; and local church and religious organizations. All of our directors are also involved in our co-op committee system. They bring their various community developed skills in finance, community organization and public speaking to help the co-op on a daily basis.
Our group was founded in 1987 and was formally incorporated on August 3, 1989. Our Co-op. is currently operating 51 non-profit housing suites. We have developed two communities under both Federal and Provincial programs. Our most recent community was completed in the fall of 1991.
