Seaway Valley
Co-ops
You have connected with the Seaway Valley Co-op Organization (SVCO). We are a group of six not-for-profit housing co-operatives. Our co-ops are located in Eastern Ontario, Canada, in the St. Lawrence - Lake Ontario corridor running between Belleville, Kingston and Brockville. We actively network at the member, Board and staff level. We welcome your participation in our site activities!
Detailed list of SVCO Co-op addresses, phone numbers and contacts
A continuing, non-profit housing co-operative consists of a group of people joining together to provided good quality homes for one another. As housing costs increase, co-op housing provides a way of having a secure, affordable home in a community environment. In a non-profit housing co-op, members jointly own the housing they live in and individually occupy their homes.
Housing co-ops are independent, self-directing, incorporated associations. Homes are owned by the Co-op Corporation of which residents of the Co-op are members. Every adult member has one vote in the operation of the Co-op. Usually, every member of the Co-op makes a contribution of volunteer time and energy to the Co-op on a monthly basis in addition to paying a monthly housing charge or "rent".
